About
Downeast Maine cottage overlooking Pigeon Hill Bay and Bois Bubert Island. The cottage is set privately on 3.5 acres next to the Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge. Just 30 minutes from the Schoodic Peninsula and a 1 hour drive to Mt. Desert Island, Acadia and Bar Harbor. Hike and Bike the extensive trails in the wildlife refuge or the Schoodic Peninsula. Good to know
This coastal Maine cottage with water views to the Pigeon Hill Bay has two bedrooms, a loft and a day bed that sleeps up to 9 guests. Private setting - watch the lobster boats but not the neighbors! Easy walking access to the National Wildlife Refuge just out the front door.
Other Details to Note
In 2025 we added a high capacity washer/dryer, new kitchen range/oven, and will have a new outdoor shower (as of May 1st).

Pets:

- Please clean up the yard of any waste before you leave
- Please clean up any excessive pet hair before you go.
If you use the loft, you will need to sign a liability waiver and please supervise children.
If you use the fire place and fire pit:
- You will need to provide your own firewood.
- Please have a bucket of water (fire pit only) with you and do not leave a fire unattended.
- There is a fire extinguisher inside next to the fireplace if needed.
- Please leave the fire pit ready for the next guests before you depart (ashes can be placed in the metal can once completely cooled)
You are welcome to use our kayaks, but will need to sign a waiver to do so. Children should never be left unattended. The water conditions in Maine can change quickly and we want everyone to be safe.
Please be respectful of the environment and clean up after yourself. Please leave the plants and wildlife here!

Just out the door is the entrance to the Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge, home to a wide array of sea birds. Just 1 mile to the town landing where you can launch the kayaks and 3 miles to the Acadia Puffin Cruise. 30 minute drive to the Schoodic Peninsula, part of Acadia National Park and Winter Harbor. About a 1 hour drive to Bar Harbor.

We had a great week at the house - the setting, right next to the wildlife refuge, could not be more peaceful. It was easy to prepare meals in the well-equipped and open kitchen, and we loved having a firepit to make s'mores at the end of the day. A great home base for enjoying all that nature has to offer nearby!

Peter & Jennifer’s coastal cottage was absolutely amazing! They were incredibly accommodating and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. The place is far more spacious than the photos show. The bedrooms and living areas are huge, yet still warm and inviting. After a full day of activities and sightseeing, the beds and pillows felt like pure heaven. They have thought of everything you might need, right down to a lobster pot or pizza slicer for a true home feeling and coastal experience.
Each morning, we were greeted by deer and wild turkeys right in the backyard. It was such a peaceful way to start the day. Hiking trails are just steps away, with the first one about 50 yards from the door. The outdoor shower is perfect for rinsing off after your morning hike and coffee. This is the kind of place we will return to.

If you’re looking for a quiet and nature filled vacation…this is it! My favorite thing about this home was the nature path right behind it. It’s blueberry season and we got to freely pick blueberries for our pancakes. My boys & daughter thought the outdoor shower was such a fun and different amenity. This home had a magical earthy feel to it but yet clean and comfortable. The hosts literally thought of every detail to make our visit smooth and easy.

My wife and I stayed here with our son and family enjoying the privacy, nearby hiking trails and blueberry picking. There is an excellent secluded sand beach at high tide off from one of the hiking trails our granddaughters enjoyed very much. This house has all the amenities! Peter and Jennifer were very responsive when we had questions!

What a great stay at this beautiful cabin overlooking the coast! The drive to the cabin was breathtaking. It was private and peaceful, with many wildlife visitors nightly. The porcupine was the star of the show this week! The hosts were so helpful, the instructions posted in spots were a great reminder. Bedding was comfy as well! We had 9 people total for our stay and we fit comfortably. 10/10 would recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay! Exceptionally clean, beautifully decorated and perfectly located to all that we wanted to do. We loved relaxing on a rainy day and had so much fun using the fire pit in the evenings!

Spacious yet cozy and comfortable, the house is a lovely blend of modern and rustic. Enjoyed the view. Communication was quick and easy. Peter and Jennifer were great hosts. Would definitely recommend.

We had a magical stay at Peter’s place. It was the perfect place to start our Maine adventure and create family memories. Peter was a very response and proactive host and the suggestions that Peter gave us were very helpful. We enjoyed the Petit Manan wildlife reserve and also Acadia. Actually, the Petit Manan Birch Trail was our favorite. Such a hidden gem right outside the door! The campfire nights were the cherry on top. You are lucky if you get to stay here.

A beautiful spot and a beautiful place to stay. A view of the water and walking distance to a wildlife preserve, and the space is so simple, comfortable and intentional. We hope to come back!
